No human advancement should wait in line for computing time.
Join us in building a world where researchers, students, and citizen scientists can access the computing they need to advance health, science, climate research, and discovery.
About Us
At Computing for Humanity, we believe that no promising research project should stall because compute is too expensive, too difficult to access, or simply unavailable.
We expand access to research computing by providing free and affordable infrastructure through donated HPC systems, community cloud services, and distributed computing support. Our work helps researchers, students, and citizen scientists move important projects forward without the cost barriers that so often slow discovery.
Through our platform, myresearchcloud.ca, we offer secure, Canada-hosted access to virtual machines, GPUs, storage, and research environments. Smaller projects can start for free, while larger workloads remain affordable and accessible.
We do more than provide infrastructure. We help turn limited budgets into real research progress.
Our Services
myresearchcloud.ca Research Cloud
myresearchcloud.ca is our nonprofit research cloud, designed to give researchers fast, simple access to virtual machines, GPUs, storage, and research environments hosted in Canada. It supports the vast majority of underserved research use cases, with free entry-level access and affordable options for larger projects.
Refurbished Systems for Universities
We recover, reconfigure, and donate high-performance computing systems to universities and research institutions, extending the life of valuable infrastructure and expanding access to advanced compute.
Support for Grid Projects
We contribute computing capacity to distributed research platforms that accelerate large-scale scientific collaboration in areas such as health, climate, and discovery science.
Computing for Humanity operates across three primary areas: nonprofit research cloud access, infrastructure donation and distributed computing support.
myresearchcloud.ca – for Researchers
We provide secure, Canada-hosted storage, virtual machines, and research computing environments with controlled remote access. Smaller projects can start for free, while larger CPU, GPU, and storage workloads remain far more affordable than major public cloud platforms.
Whether you are running exploratory analysis, supporting a thesis, building a prototype, or scaling a larger research workflow, myresearchcloud.ca makes advanced computing more accessible.

How we’re making a difference
-

OUR RESEARCH NETWORK
Computing for Humanity works with a growing network of universities and research centres to expand access to advanced computing and share best practices in infrastructure, data management, modeling, visualization, and AI.
-

SUPPORTING RESEARCHERS
We help researchers focus on discovery by providing infrastructure, donated equipment, and technical support. We also contribute to distributed research initiatives that support national and international scientific progress.
-

STORING RESEARCH DATA
We provide research data storage at meaningful scale, including large-capacity environments for long-term scientific datasets. Our approach is designed to support researchers who need secure, practical storage without enterprise-level cost barriers.
-

23,000+ VOLUNTEER HOURS
Our volunteers bring deep commitment and practical expertise to supporting researchers with the computing power and technical help they need to move important work forward.
-

ON TRACK TO EXCEED ONE BILLION CORE HOURS OF RESEARCH BY NEXT YEAR
Computing for Humanity has already delivered more than 600 million CPU core hours and 6 million GPU hours in support of research. With more than 5,000 new cores being added this year, we are on track to surpass one billion total core hours delivered across direct research, institutional projects, and large-scale public science initiatives.
-

THOUSANDS OF CPU CORES AND HUNDREDS OF GPUs RUNNING 24/7
We provide researchers with access to thousands of CPU cores and hundreds of GPUs running around the clock. Every donated system, volunteer hour, and partnership helps expand what researchers can do.
